Glee: Actually not that bad

I know that Glee's seen as one of those shows that you're literally a wuss for liking. I think that that's mainly because of the singing, kind of like the same impression people get when they hear "musical" "Oh, gay!". But I think that's odd, because music's always been cool, but it's not cool to sing? What did you think the musicians were doing? And some musicals are pretty badass, in my opinion. Some are very brutal even, like Sweeney Todd but no, that's not cool because they sing.

I also think that Glee's not appreciated because it's a high school drama, kind of chick flick warning, but it's not all about that. If it was, I wouldn't like it. And here begins the ranting on why I personally think that Glee is underappreciated.

Firstly, People think Glee is lame, as in cheesy, but the jokes in that show are brutal. Due to Sue Sylvester and that other coach that I can't remember the name off there are jokes that could actually make you cringe, not because they're bad, but because they're offensive and you don't know if you should laugh or not. ¨Not to mention sexual jokes.
Like this joke directed towards Artie (a student in a wheelchair)

Dakota Stanley: Artie you're cut, you're not trying hard enough
Artie: At what?
Dakota Stanley: At Walking
---
Rachel[about vomiting to lose weight] I tried but I guess I just don't have a gag reflex.
Emma: One day, when you're older, that'll turn out to be a gift.
---
Sue: Is there any reason you have a soiled mattress in your office, Will? Have you and the redhead become so sexually depraved that you have to commit your craven acts of adultery in between classes?
---
Russell: Uh, my name is Russell, and I'm a glee club survivor. Whenever anything bad would happen, I would just say, "Let's put on a show!" Well, guess what? Puttin' on a show about your father's prostate cancer will actually just make him more depressed about the situation.
---
Sue: Is it a tad over-the-top to bill the district for skydiving lessons to have the Cheerios parachuted onto the football field? Perhaps.

etc.. there are tons more and better than these but at the moment I couldn't remember or find them xD

Secondly, Glee is a really random show. Stuff you never thought would happen happen. It's almost like after watching the show for a while you wouldn't be surprised if a dinosaur suddenly ate everyone. And sure, in that sentence I suppose it's not really a GOOD show that way, but it's not a sappy high school drama that's for sure.

And Glee is probably the most controversial show I know. They bring up almost every single problem and situation. We have people from different nations like Latinos, Asians, Europeans, Black etc.. and We have Gays, Lesbians, Bi and even Transgendered. We have Christians and Jews (yet to see a muslim that actually speak about being a muslim though, but it's possible that the princible is muslim, but I'm not sure), and Atheists. They bring up Teen-pregnancy, Dyslexia, Child abuse, Sexual abuse, Abuse in homes, Handicap (Both Mental and psysical), Gun Violence, Internet Dating etc.. And they do it well. They do it really well, in my opinion. It's one of the few shows I've seen that bring up this stuff and show both sides of it, two reactions to everything and they don't judge. (well sometimes they do but it's not that they neglect the other person's opinion completely because of it).

One of my favourite quotes and actions was in an episode when Kurt's dad had a heartattack and his fellow glee mates started showing their religious support, Kurt in that case explained that he was an atheist and the reactions were.. well.. not entirely acceptant. And then Coach Sue helps Kurt get religious songs banned from Glee Club, which is a bit harsh but when Emma (a student counselour) goes to yell at Sue for her actions she says something that is just so good. And here it is:

Emma: What happened to you, Sue? What horrible, horrible thing happened to you that made you such a miserable tyrant?"
Sue: Have a seat. Since I was a little girl, I've had exactly one hero. My big sister. You know how much I worshipped her? She was the sun and the moon to me. And while I was still very young, I noticed that other people didn't feel the way I did. People were rude to her. They were cruel. They laughed at her, and so I began to pray. I prayed every night for her to get better. And nothing changed. So I prayed harder. And after awhile I realized it wasn't that I wasn't praying hard enough. It's that no one was listening. Asking someone to believe in a fantasy, however comforting, isn't a moral thing to do. It's cruel.
Emma: Don't you think that's just a little bit arrogant?
Sue: It's as arrogant as telling someone how to believe in God, and if they don't accept it, no matter how open-hearted, or honest their dissent, they're going to hell. Well, that doesn't sound very Christian, does it?

Ah, Glee is love to my moral-discussion heart.

Lastly, Songs.
The glee songs are very hated, I know and just as any cover some can be really bad. But I think that the hatred of the show has gone over to automatic hate towards the songs and I don't like that.
Glee has a lot of creative ideas when it comes to some songs. The Warblers did all of their songs accapella and it was interesting. Artie did a song called "Never going back again" where it started out with one aucoustic guitar and later ended up with a stage filled with them and it sounded splendid.
Santana and Sebastian did a duett of "Smooth Criminal" featuring two cellos, also freaking cool!
Then we have the Mash-ups. A Mash-up is basically two songs mashed together to create a new song and Glee is pretty damn good at this.
Some of my favourite mash-ups from the show is Rumour Has it/Someone Like you, Umberella/Singing in the Rain, Halo/Walking on Sunshine, Happy days are here again/Get happy (Though this is actually a mash-up that has been done before by Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand, it's still wonderful though), Thriller/Heads will roll etc.. :)

ROTG Ranting

This clip is half of one of my favourite scenes in this movie. Why is it my favourite? Well.. the animation is beautiful and the music is brilliantly written to help set the mood in this scene, in my opinion.

I'm also going to add a little rant that I recently put up on tumblr about the fact that ROTG was as "unsuccessful" as it was and that it probably won't get a sequel.

To me, dreamworks has been superior when it comes to storytelling and 3D animation. And it saddens me that Disney has been so huge that they tend to accept everything they do, even if it’s not good, while smaller companies like Dreamworks, Blue Sky etc.. have it harder.. at least that’s my view of it.

I personally never really thought Disney over all was all that good.. sure there are some good movies out there that they’ve done.. but my favourite ones has never been Disney. Such as The Secret of Nihm (previous disney animator, yes but not disney) and Yellow Submarine (which was a very impressive piece of animation in that time since it wasn’t disney). And then we have those from dreamworks such as Antz, The Road to el dorado, The Prince of Egypt etc..

It saddens me with Rise of the Guardians because to me, it felt new and interesting. It didn’t have the normal storyline and pacing like the others did. To me it left open so many interesting doors that makes me want more, but to me that’s a good thing.. it’s what made me like it. It felt interesting. And the animation and the bloody details! Geezus! And the music, specially during the fighting scene with Jack and Sandy, it did such a great job setting the mood for that scene. All the characters where likable, I can honestly say that I love all of them! And they all seemed like normal people! No one was abnormally heroic or superior, they all actually felt like people you could relate to, which also scored a lot of points for me since I have a hard time relating to people in films. (closest girl I’ve ever related to was Merida and her relationship with her mum was kind of like me and my mum when I was younger, but otherwise I hardly relate to movies at all). This film was very realistic, despite the obvious fantasy-theme it had. Despite being about legends with magical powers. It felt like there was a possibility that that could actually happen, and that’s also something I hardly ever feel. There’s a lot of movies that I love, but it was a long time ago that a movie made me feel so much like this did, and that is despite having lots of holes in it and being too short.

As the one above me said.. if anyone THIS movie DESERVES a second movie. And there are so many people out here who can back that up. I want to do anything I can to help raise the money for it if needed, because it saddens me that they lost so much on a movie that should’ve been much more appreciated.

Musicals

So, an ensemble at my school is having a musical concert today. They're going to perform music from the musical Chess (a musical I personally have no idea what it's about) and well from what I've seen from the rehearsals yesterday, it's going to be pretty good.

Also, well lets just say that it got me into some kind of musical... spree.. kind of. I went on and listened to a hell of a lot of music from different musicals.. such as two of my favourites: The Phantom of the Opera and Hair. I thought that I wanted to share some of my favourite scenes/songs from different musicals, since well.. I relived some memories yesterday and well.. I just love musicals.

Firstly: A scene from hair, the ending scene more specifically.
This musical was one of the first ones I saw, around the same time I saw Grease for the first time. And this scene never failed to make me cry. I think that it's very brilliantly made in how they tell the story and the music is fantastic!

This next clip is from a rather new musical. It's possible that I've showed this clip before but it's.. well it's just so nicely done with the scenery and everything and I think it's a brilliant cover of the original song.
I'm not sure if this musical ever made it to the stage, but I hope it will because I would watch the crap out of that play.
Anyways! The musical (Movie) is called Across The Universe, it's in the same kind of area of time as Hair and is sort of about the same thing, just a bit differently told. The musical contains Beatles-music (No original songs, for those who prefer that.. but they almost seem original so give them a chance) and like The Beatles.. it's... weird. It has a lot of WTF-moments but I personally think they help giving the film some sort of feeling. It's just.. so nice and so good and such great music.

Lastly (for now) I'm going to show a scene that also has been my favourite for a while and will probably continue to be my favourite part of the entire film. The musical is called Moulin Rouge and the song is El Tango de Roxanne. Like Across the Universe, this mainly contains non-original music, but there's a lot mash-ups so for me it doesn't matter. And it does have original songs.. but it's only like.. two. xD

Currently bored again

But.. so that this won't just be one of those boring lists again.. I'm going to add a picture that I have recently drawn.. You're welcome.

  • 1: If you were a tv producer and you had to choose 5 band members to live together for a reality show, who would you choose?
I'm guessing they have to be living.. Well.. and.. do they have to come from different bands or can I.. you know, pick two from one? Oh well.. Matthew Bellamy and Dominic Howard from Muse (They're always fun),  Miles Kane from The Last Shadow Puppets, Dave Grohl from Them Crooked Vultures.. because.. I think he's fun and would probably have fun with Matt and Dom.. And then the lovely Paul McCartney, because he and Dave Grohl are adorable together xD

  • 2: If you had to get lyrics tattooed on your body, which lyrics would they be?
A lot of different ones come to my head at the same time.. Maybe something from Tomorrow Never Knows.. like "So play the game existence to the end, of the beginning" or "Lay down your thoughts surrender to the void" oooor "Turn off your mind relax and float downstream".. The most annoying thing about tattoos and songs are that.. you can't actually tattoo the music part of it..To me, lyrics are meaningless without the music. If not from that song (which is my favourite beatles song, probably ever.. there's something special about it) I would probably take something from "I'm only sleeping" because.. well.. that song IS me.. "Everybody seems to think I'm lazy, I don't mind, I think they're crazy. Running everywhere at such a speed, till they find there's no need". I guess I'd end up with Muse of John Lennon lyrics.. cus those are the ones I like the most

  • 3: Older music or newer music?
There are some good older music, and there are some good newer music.. But.. popular music then or now? Definitely then.

  • 4: What would you do if you worked at a restaurant and your favorite band showed up?
I'd try my hardest not to freak out or get too nervous or something like that. I really wish I had social skills worth millions sometimes.

  • 5: Have you ever written a letter or given a gift to a band member?
I haven't actually.. I was never one to find out where to send the stuff xD

  • 6: What 3 songs make you ridiculously happy?
Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles, Panic Station - Muse and.. well.. Supremacy - Muse.. I suppose xD

  • 7: If you were in a band, what instrument would you play?
Well.. I play guitar at the moment.. but if I got to choose.. well.. I'd probably sing.. or play bass.. or guitar.. xD I like them all.

  • 8: Favorite band member of all time?
    John Lennon, I would say..

  • 9: Have you ever gotten a tweet from your favorite band?
I'm not on twitter really, so no. xD

  • 10: How do you feel about mosh pits?
Fun to look at, not so fun to be in.

  • 11: Have you met your favorite band yet?
Half of my favourite band are dead, and the other favourite band I have always cancel there shows here...I have seen Tokio Hotel though.. but neve actually met them.

  • 12: Name three bands you can't stand other than Blood On the Dancefloor or Brokencyde
One Direction (I tried to accept them.. I really did), Dead by April and.. eh...wow.. I don't know xD Any other screamo band..

  • 13: Did you go through an embarrassing scene or emo phase?
Sort of... I had the black hair and liked skulls and such (I still like that though but not the kind I liked then).. but the style was the only thing I took after.. not the attitude, not the music. Well.. unless you count Tokio Hotel, but I liked them before I went through my "emo" phase.. And I'm not really embarrassed about it.. I really liked my black hair.

  • 14: How do you feel about bands that never change their sound?
I don't mind that. Specially not if it's their sound I fell in love with. I mean.. Muse kind of try to change their sound but they still have these elements that you recognize in them and I appreciate that a lot with them.. because it's those elements that made me love them in the first place. And then we have the opposite, The Beatles.. who changed their sound all the time.. and that worked too.. so.. Yeah No opinion really.

  • 15: How do you feel about bands who have gone in a completely different direction with their sound?
Well.. as I said.. it might work, it might not work either way.. it depends.. xD

  • 16: have you ever had a bad concert experience?
I've only went to one concert, and it wasn't at all bad so.. no.

  • 17: Mark Hoppus or Pete Wentz?
Pardon, but I don't know who Mark Hoppus is.. so Pete Wentz..

  • 18: How many songs do you have on your ipod/phone/whatever right now?
Approximentaly 700 songs.. On my spotify I have over 1000 songs.

  • 19: What was the first song from your favorite band that you've ever heard?
I don't know the first song of the Beatles cus they've excisted for so long in my life without me recognizing them so I don't know.. and with Muse.. Well I know that Felix showed me some song before I got into them.. but I can't remember which.. Possibly Feeling Good.. possibly something else. The one that got me hooked though was Uprising.

  • 20: Have you ever been stereotyped because of the type of music you listen to?
Actually.. no. I think people have a hard time tying me to one specific style of music so I haven't actually been treated after it.. Although.. a classmate of mine accidentaly described me when he was talking about what a Hipster was.. xD But he wasn't really stereotyping me personally. (I'm also not hipster <.<)

  • 21: Have you ever lost respect for a band member/band for somethign they said or did?
Never anyone I've liked so far... but I did lose what little respect I had for Justin Bieber because he said something stupid.. xD I mean.. the closest to a member I would've lost respect for would be John Lennon.. but despite sometimes being the biggest dick on the planet, he's really smart and had some really good opinions so.. no.

  • 22: Would you rather be a roadie or a band member?
Band Member.. possibly xP I wouldn't mind being a roadie either though.

  • 23: Have you ever listened to a few seconds of a song and just thought "fuck no." and turned it off?
Hahahaha, oh yes.. many times! xD

  • 24: Are you good at songwriting?
I would have to say no. I would like to be good at it.. but I wouldn't consider myself good.. and Lyrics are never to be spoken off. If I would write music.. it would be instrumentals..Like Panzerballett.

  • 25: Guitar or Bass?
They're both really fun to play.. but... bass.. I love the sound!

Best gaming intro ever!

I've never seen a gaming intro like this, it's just so brilliant and the voice is probably the best voice I've heard in a long time! It was pretty much a big wtf-moment at the beginning but, oh it's just so nice! xD

I'm sorry xD

1.Favourite actor:

I have a few, but I normally like everything Johnny Depp is in, so I suppose he's one of my favorites. Then I also like Colin Morgan a lot

2.Favourite band?

Tjose who know me, know this question by heart.. but Muse and The Beatles.

3.Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

I don't really know.. hopefully working and owning my own flat, maybe even having moved to england with my sis, we'll see. Or figured out what I want to do xD

4.Favourite t-shirt you own?

I have a big one with a skull and dragon on which I love. Probably one I stole from one of my older family members.

5.Do you write/play music/paint or draw?

I play music, I have to try and write music (I study music) but I'm no good and I paint and draw, a lot.

6. favourite people?

Any family member, friends and tons of celebrities.. Like...idk John Lennon's one of my favourite even though he's dead (and it's not for the peace and love, rather the opposite).

Other people I like: Matt Bellamy, Dominic Howard, Ellen Page, Tim Burton, Salvador Dali, Bradley James, Colin Morgan, Zoey Deschanel, Ellen Degeneres, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, David Mitchell, Simon Amstell, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jimmy Carr, Bo Burnham, Helena Bonham Carter, Neil Patrick Harris, Colin Morgan etc. etc..

7. Do you feel older or younger than your real age?

I feel older than my age and sometimes.. that's not fun at all. Maybe that's why I still like toys and animation, I'm desperately trying to bring back some youth.. xD

8. Confession about yourself

Confession.. hmm..I like fanfiction, a lot. I've even tried to write some back when I liked Tokio Hotel and it was mostly tragic stuff like rape, fatal diceases etc. But ok, seriously.. I love fanfiction, I read it a lot and even though some are really ridiculous or filled with porn, some are seriously clever and just downright fantastic. It's like reading a published book.

For example, at the moment I'm reading a Rotg fanfiction called Tangled Oats.. It's about how after Jack had fell through the ice and died, his sister makes a deal with "the bad man" (Pitch) to bring him back exactly how he was. Jack (being immortal and Jack Frost) would in return belong to pitch when his sister dies (or if he dies). This being played out in the 1700's they meet a bunch of complications, specially when they both return to the village after Jack's been brought back and the entire village (that knew for certain that he died) accuse his sister for being a witch and wanting to kill her off. They have to flee of course and they have to keep going for a long while considering the fact that rumours spread fast.

At one point the siblings stay at a couple who can't get their own kids and it's going really well, but after a while the man in the family notice that Jack isn't aging as his sister is and gets suspicious. He goes into town, hears the rumours and when he gets back. Well.. he locks Jack's sister in the chickens house and tried to bury Jack alive claiming that "dead things belong in the ground".

I could keep going about this story, but I figure you get the point. My point being that some fanfictions are just bloody brilliant, like this one. And I just love the writers that does researches for the story they're writing. This writer has done tons of that and usually leave some facts after each chapter, really bloody interesting!

9.You are at the doctor’s office and he has just informed you that you have approximately one month to live. Do you tell anyone/everyone you are going to die? What do you do with your remaining days? Would you be afraid?

I would be scared shitless, considering I'm afraid of dying (it's absolutely not to recommend). I don't know if I would tell anyone, I don't think I would want anyone to act differently around me so I don't think I would. Or maybe I would and ask them to not bring it up.. I don't know. And what would I do.. well.. as much as I can I suppose. I'd try to have fun and distract myself as much as possible.

10.Chocolate or candy?

Candy, candy could be anything..
